tody27
i think no shine shells wrk as well as any full bodied decoys. It is not always about the way they look it is the way you set them out. When i started decoying a few years ago I made some decoy silloutes out of cardboard. They worked fantastic for a few times (thing is i cudnt shoot straight then ). Also depends on if the area you shoot is decoyed regularly. If it is then you wil have to use more cunning tricks to bring em down; such as glueing wings on or making the white wing bars brighter by painting them. hope this helps, Tody
Cranfield
If they are "non-shine" and there is a bit of movement in them, they should draw the pigeons. Certainly try them a few more times. There can be loads of reasons why pigeons won,t decoy, on any particular day. It doesn,t have to be the fault of the decoys. Often, when they seem to be coming in fine and then sheer off at the last moment, its usually because they have seen YOU.
Vermin Dropper
If you use the shells make sure they are high enough to rock a little in the breeze, also make sure you keep your head down untill the pigeon is "comitted" to the decoys before you pop up for your shot. Teal
Full bodies are great if you can manage to lump them out each time, for simplicity I use shells and no pigeon has complained (yet )

Deako
The first thing that comes to mind mate, is how often have you shot from THAT hide, in THAT field?...the birds soon get wise. Failing that, as Vermin Dropper says, I can only think that there is something wrong with your hide, or perhaps a decoy is on its back...are the majority of your deeks facing into the wind? brooktrout
Its got to be your hide or your movements Deni, shells have been used with great success for years now by the majority of pigeon shooters. The only situation that they dont seem to work as well as the full bodied type is when deoying with an air rifle where you obviously need the birds to actually LAND at close range, and even in that situation shell deeks can work brilliantly as long as your hide is 100%. Take another look at your hide from a distance, and try to imagine it from a woody,s point of view.
NGhost
I use 10 shells and 10 flexicoys. No problems. Yesterday I tried a new technique..... NO HIDE. I had a camo jacket on, light trousers to mach the dead scrub. But the most important bit a full balaclava (terorist style) and realtree gloves. I only did this for an hour, but not 1 bird jinked even when I stood up to shoot. I was sitting on a fallen ivy coverd tree. I'm definitly going to use the balaclava in the hide. red_stag88
I never use a hide, or decoys for that matter. I get my self in a patch of brambles and shoot them as they come over, the sport isnt too bad but its been getting worse, so next time ill change the place I stand. Vermin Dropper
As Deako said if you overshoot the same spot they'll soon wise up, do you wear a face veil and gloves? also don't wave your gun barrel above the hide, keeping still as they come in is most important,
red_stag88
Nope, they tend to be going like **** off a shovel anyway. I do move about a bit, but it is a main flight line. I dont mount untill its almost to late.

denihow
I use camo balaclva,(that i wear when in the hide) and i use a pop up hide to great affect, using fac rapid and hushpower .410 for close stuff they fly over my head at about 15-20yards,use these guns because of the noise, that cant be ,im very sure its those decoys that arent quite rite somehow,i always do ok with my full bodied ones, and im learning all the time, thanks everbody. Oh and yes its the main flightline, hundreds pass every day, going to there roost. Could you tell me also wether/what patteren should be used for best effect?
