1st attempt at recording some footage of crow shooting.

Hi folks, I bought a cheap man's go pro the other week it was an SJ4000 and decided to have a test with it shooting/missing crows. I made a few schoolboy errors however first and foremost I was that concerned if the thing was recording that i was missing easy birds, i also forgot to take the protective sticker of the lens so the quality isn't very good. And i did not get the head mounted strap so had to set the camera up about 20 feet from the hide. And finally i forgot to bring the spare battery so I only actually got 40 mins of footage. As i said its my 1st attempt and i hope to not make all the same mistakes in future.

Hope you enjoy, and please don't be too critical  Its embarrasing enough missing those easy birds lol

Some good novel shots on camera! I'd definitely get a head mount though as you can turn the camera on and off as and when birds come in. With 40 minutes of video in one clip it must have taken you ages to edit! Good first attempt though and the quality isn't bad considering the sticker :)

you have done better than me on both accounts, getting the film on here and hitting the crows

cheers telf, i appreciate the kind comment

I've just bought a new SJ4000, but have'nt had chance to set it up yet. You did good with your first attempt.

Thanks steve, the wee camera seems decent enough. Not quite go pro standard but i couldnt justify spending that amount on a camera the shotgun didnt even cost that much lol

srs you have no idea how long that took lol. yeah i have the head mount ordered so hopefully next time it will be better. and as you can imagine when i noticed the protective sticker still on well it was promptly removed with a few choice words lol

I brought one of these (with wifi after watching techmoan on youtube)

thought the battery lasted longer than that

I remembered to take the sticker off but forgot to take the camera

did try it in my fish tank and the picture was crystal clear

yeah they are a great camera for all they cost. i done a test with a friends go-pro 3 and there definitely wasn't £250 worth of difference. there is slight colour fade but that's it.

Nice one mate. That's the sort of video I like. No showing off. Just sharing your day out. I use a head cam but I want to try the cam on my tripod to get some different angles.

Well done mate.

thanks stevo, I have got some great enjoyment from the clips yourself and other PW members post so thought i would give it a go. I look forward to seeing your efforts with the tripod set-up.

I think you have done well for your first attempt. As others have said try a head mount or a mount for your barrel. If you can get them to decoy in really close you can keep the camera at a fixed location with a slightly higher angle and get some real good close up shots.

Best thing of all is just go out, practice and have a great time
