Berettaxtrema2
Thinking about booking a shooting holiday to Scotland next January! A bit of wild fowling and rough shooting, and inland duck shooting on fighting ponds. Has any body got any advice or experience around these parts ie what company others have used and had a good experience with? I've been looking at solway shooting holidays on the solway firth. This is the area I'm looking southern Scotland. Would love to try Orkney one day for the geese but this 1st time I would like to try a little nearer to home. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks all
jimmydean
I am also looking for the same info. Always wanted a few days away morning/evening flights and maybe a foxing trip. Hope Beretta doesn't mind me sharing his thread !
Dannyboy220
David Virtue is on theshootingshow.tv all the time and his guided days look the nuts. Never been but when I get a chance to I think it's he that I will book with. Think his website is dvsporting.co.uk

Penelope
Mal Kempson around Loch Leven, he should be able to provide you with everything you need. You should be able to contact him through the Well Inn in Scotlandwell, where you can find accommodation too. http://www.thewellcountryinn.co.uk/index.html

Keriyates
Ii am looking to find a guide that can help in taking my son husband and father in law onto the soleway for 3 days shooting . They are already keen wildfowlers and shoot the dovey estuary and are members of a wildfowling club in that area . They have always wanted to do this and the last three months I have come up against a few brick walls . If there is anyone that can help me then I would be appreciated. We r also looking for a lodge, cottage ,house we can rent for 7 people and 5 dogs as we are a group of three family's. I really would like to make this reality as I have just lost my dad and this may be my husbands last chance to get his dad shooting in Scotland. Thank you Looking at one weeks accommodation and three days at least shooting . Jan 2020

Jan 2020 Not sure if you are on FB but if so i would join the Duck and Goose shooting Scotland page and put a post up with what you are looking for. Loads of outstanding folk on there and will help to sift through the less desirable, and with a whole year until you are looking to get on then hopefully you will get sorted. Jan 2020 You can get permits for the Caerlaverock Nature Reserve and the Merse controlled by Scottish Solway Wildfowlers. There are plenty of cottages in the Glencaple area just look on the web and at Caerlaverock Cottages. As they are experienced Fowler’s they will be able to look after themselves to a degree just need to look carefully at the permits for boundaries. I help steward Caerlaverock and we are all there to help. If they need a guide contact The Nith Hotel for Gordon. Dave Campbell is also an excellent guide but not sure what he is doing next year. PM me if you need to go through anything.

Sounds like it would be a special moment for sure. Inshore geese would be an easier get but sounds like the shore is preferred.

Richie10
Phone the Nith Hotel, they have Gordon as the guide, might be Calum now. They have rooms, good food, places for the dogs and a bar. They organise duck and geese shooting, wildfowling they can point you in the right direction.
