Fredwalton
I recently brought a pair a Aigle Welles which I love but my socks keep coming off when I walk. The wellies are a little bit big for me which I suspect is playing its part, and if I wear thick socks my feet get really hot, any other suggestion? Thanks
pigeon controller
I had simular problem and cured it with some sporting insoles.
Pothunter
The fact that you've just bought new wellies suggests that you may not see things this way, but when it gets too hot for thick socks, I stop wearing wellies and switch to my "summer" boots. They are still big, high, heavy and waterproof, but not as hot as my wellies and better suited to thinner socks.
Andra
Have to agree with pigeon controller pop some cushioned insoles in them and they sould be fine.... I wear aigles and have done for many years and always buy a half size up so I can put the insoles in to save my plantar fasciitus (prob not the right spelling!!) playing up. I can wear thin socks that I wear with work shoes with no probs or thick socks when required... I always tuck the troosers into them though! There seems to be some terribly expensive ones about these days mine were about £8 a pair. I simpy cannot be ***** lacing boots up half the time.... I must be getting auld lol. jeffjjack
Thin socks (normal shoe wearing type) and then a thin pair of nylon footy socks to keep my trousers wrapped up... works for me. Unless stood in water or its frost, my feet are always too hot in wellies.
Pothunter
I simpy cannot be ***** lacing boots up half the time.... I must be getting auld lol. There's no doubt boots takes more time (more the cleaning/waxing than the lacing), but I find it quite relaxing, like cleaning my gun. All part of the experience. Wellies definitely a lot quicker and easier though.
Suffolkngood
Just buy a pair of Velcro fastened elasticated sock ties as used to keep footballers socks up. Only a couple of quid.
Harry Callahan
Im with Pothunter. Boots win every time for me. Im a hill farmer/shepherd by trade - i wear Seeland PAC boots all winter/spring and then a lighter high boot in the warmer months. I ***** hate wellies!! Just bought a new pair of summer boots - old ones are 10yr old. Only binned because the stitching gave up between 2 panels. Never a seconds care given to them and until the stitches went, were as waterproof as the day i bought them.
NickB65
I have the exacr same problem but only with one foot as like many people one foot is smaller than the other...... inner sole works every time...... But I also use summer boots as I prefer boot summer if it is dry and then I buy the ex-MOD boots for about £30 and they are excellant. jeffjjack
Just bought a new pair of summer boots Harry... Out of interest which high & light boot do you recommend?
Harry Callahan
Well... when i say high, the ones i wear are just 8inch - but anything is better as an ankle boot! These are the ones iv just bought (delivered today actually) and are the current version of the ones iv just binned: http://www.patrolstore.com/Grafters-8-Inch-Leather-Ambush-Waterproof-Boot-M107A.html I bought mine off Amazon - they are about £45 delivered, compared to most other sites which are £45-£50 before delivery. The old ones stood up to thousands of miles walking/hiking, shooting. Farming/shepherding. They stood upto being covered in **** working with livestock to tractor work, fencing, dyking, the odd bit of forestry and firewood and everything inbetween! Iv basically lived in them for most of their life and they never let me down. The new ones look very similar and appear to be built the same way/to the same standards - so heres to the next 10 years! Fredwalton
Can you still wear thick socks with the inner soles in? Also what kind if inner soles do you have? Just buy a pair of Velcro fastened elasticated sock ties as used to keep footballers socks up. Only a couple of quid.
