Redgum
Been thinking of getting a truck just for shooting, something cheap that can just sit waiting for me with the right welly's on. On the weekend while shouting at my sons football team a fellow parent mentioned he was upgrading his Rav4 five door GX. He's had the vehicle since new (its a 98 model ) and being a doctor and using it for calls in bad weather has had it fully service and any work done by a reputable local garage. Its just got 12 months mot on it and the price he wants for it sounds like a hard one to turn down but are they any good?

butchdickason
Mine is RAV 4 2001VX 2 ltr Auto, it now has 90 thousand on the clock and apart from yearly service has cost me one anti rollbar rubber. It is very good on and off road, mine is permanent 4WD, have not managed to get stuck yet and I do use it OFF Road. Butch
Cosd
Haven't taken one off road but went to Portsmouth and back in thick snow and it didn't even twitch on the road. Very reliable cars and from what I've heard pretty decent off road. As in any off road vehicle, it's all about the tyres. Put a decent set of rubbers on it and it'll do you well in my opinion. Redgum
Well took it for a test drive this evening, feels solid, great visibility and it really is in good condition, not a spot of rust and one slight dink in the metallic green paint work. Good off roaders on the rear but will need booting up on the front. Constant 4wd with a button to lock the diffs, took it up some pretty rough tracks you would not get a car up, the ground clearance isn't bad and the 16inch wheels should be easy to shoe. Tested last week and next service due in 3000 miles. Interior all working and tidy though the Doc pointed out the A/c needs priming each year as there is possibly a leak somewhere, nothing like honesty but for the hefty price of £500 I don't think I will be complaining.
