Fox moved in to pheasant pen

I have a massive problem that a fox/foxes have moved into our pheasant pen, there are several entrances to the earths inside and just outside. We have our ex-layers coming soon and need them gone ASAP. What is the best way to get rid. It's not ideal for rifle shooting as the terrain is difficult. I did think about baiting them to a nearby field where a safer/ easier shot can be taken.

Fire a 12g into all the earth entrances and you will find they take the hint. Cover the footprints in the soil and after a day or two check for new prints. They will usually take the hint, because they don't like being disturbed. If necessary repeat and then close the entrances. Use some rocks when you close.

Best to deal with the problem once and for all, moving them on will only cause further problems later

Any one on the shoot or beating line do terrier work. And you could stand out with the shotguns to make sure.

Surpirised it took 6 replies before terriers were mentioned, thats the obvious way either to gun or nets. Local hunt terrier man will usually appreciate the work (althou dunno if u still have hunt terrier men in eng?)

 

I take it u are going to block the holes well up when u have got rid of them, not a good idea to have holes which bypass the wire

This is the way forward.

 

Dig out the earth, kill anything in there, then fill the earth in and block all entrances and then walk the pen out with shotguns. Finally, ensure your electric foxwire is up and working.
