fenboy
I have been wanting a new kennel with room for another dog for a while , I laid the base and drain a few weeks ago and today the new Kennel was erected. Just need to make a couple of sleeping boxes for inside and it will be finished and I can start pup hunting !

Sprucey
Very nice, I was actually looking at one of these but price beat me. So I've designed my own to a similar spec. Can I ask please... How did you configure your drain? I.e. soak-away or piped to existing drain?

Can I ask please... How did you configure your drain? I.e. soak-away or piped to existing drain? It just goes to a soak away , there is little point me piping it to my drains as they give me enough trouble as it is , Ideally I would have it go into a drain especially if I was on mains sewrage which I am not. I do need to knock something up that will stop the majority of dog hair going down it and blocking the soak away pipe , other than that it will have to have a bucket of disinfectant down it now and again to prevent smells , my dog is quite clean in his run so it should not need too much water going to the soak away anyhow . Sprucey
I have done the same but silly me forgot to put the drain in before I laid my concrete so I have had to dig a trench down the side and have managed to dig a soak-a-way at the far end. Hopefully it will be deep enough, I just need to lay the drainage channel but i'm thinking if I need it or could I just use a gravel filled trench with pipe in the bottom? major DIY virginity being lost here lol. The gravel will soon get covered in dog hairs and it's effectiveness as a drain will be lost.
Sprucey
Thanks Jdog, as i've never had a kennelled dog before. I've taken advise from various websites but none have mentioned the dog hair so thanks for the heads up! I shall try and figure out how to lay the channel so it is secure. or perhaps put a grate over the top of the gravel? any advise is welcome.
