Thanks

I don't think I'm explaining it properly.Ive just got a gun and in it are two Briley chokes, so would Teague chokes fit?

Fielddweller

You need to get the correct thread fitment. For example, a Beretta mobil choke Teague will fit the same as Beretta mobil choke Brileys, but not Optima Plus Brileys.

As long as you are CERTAIN that they are Browning/Miroku Invector Plus chokes fitted to your gun, then Briley or Teague after market chokes will fit. I have a Miroku with Invector Plus chokes and have some Briley and some Teague chokes, all extended and bought second hand. I prefer the Briley chokes and use nothing but 2 x I/C (1/4) for all my sporting and skeet shooting. I believe that in MY gun, they pattern very well with Hull Superfast in either plastic or fibre wads. Give Bamfords of Eccleton (Chorley) a call they often have used extended chokes that will fit your gun.

Guys

Are Briley chokes the same fitting as Teague and are one better than the other?

Cheers

Briley generic thin wall chokes are not interchangeable with Teague as they use a different thread.

Also standard 12G barrels are commonly bored 18.5mm to 18.7mm so retrofit chokes may not be interchangeable between guns.

I have had quite a few Teague choked guns over the years and currently own a Perazzi MX2000S and a lightweight K80 with Teagues. Without exception the machining of the barrels and of the chokes have always been as close to perfect as I am able to discern. Stories of barrels misplacing the shot through errors in the choking are just not true in my experience of Teague. That being said floating barrels as found in K80s are unlikely to shoot where you expect owing to flexing and need proper patterning, hangar and stock adjustment for good scores.

However I have recently bought a second-hand K80 Parcours with factory fitted Brileys which I would not have accepted had it been new. For starters whereas flush Teagues are almost invisible in the barrels, the Brileys are recessed something like 0.5mm. This is unsightly if not of any great concern; other than maybe less resistant to knocks on the muzzles. More worrying the chokes have "ghost" threads for up to 12mm beyond the actual threads ending in a noticeable scour mark all the way around the circumference of the choke. Definitely an area to regularly check for cracks in the future. In short the machining of my Brileys is well below precision engineering standards.

Maybe other Briley owners can comment whether mine are just a bad set. For me it will be Teague in future.
