Viking did you buy the plastic battery tray inset and found it didn't fit too.

no, the plastic battery tray i have belonged to the original battery try which was shot to bits, so i bought one off ebay that was advertised as being off a series 3, shot blasted it and painted it

.

this is the one i bought off ebay, and then sand blasted

cant find one of it painted, probably on here somewhere, if you read through all 117 pages you should find it :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

but here it is on, like new :good::good:

just bleach, or bleach and water??

do the toilet cleaner first...that will get rid of the calcium...then a strong solution of bleach mixed with water.....

if that dont work ....dry it and spray it with oven cleaner..........

Been following your project from the begining and is good to finally see the Landie slowly being put back together. Even better when complete!

My tuppence worth on powder coating. I used to do this for a living once upon a time and the finish is wonderful. I used to do work friends motorbike frames, car engine wheels,covers-infact anything that was metal (it has an electric charge put through it which attracts the coating powder so needs to be metal).

However, powder coating chips especially on edges like what a clumsy tyre fitter might do-then water creeps underneath and it goes rusty lifting the coating away. The big plus point though its quick to apply on virgin steel. If you're looking to sell the vehicle when complete then go for powder because it will look good, but otherwise use celulose or acrylic.

secondly, this didnt turn out to well ditchie, soaked it as suggested but just to many years of grime on it, as it seemed very porous so it was never going to turn out good enough, even tried the wire wheel on it, so its a no go im afraid, always worth a try though :good::good:

iv seen them done in black, silver,or the colour of the car, after a bit of thought iv decided on silver :good::good::good:
