very very nice.....................valve caps.....i order up a rebuild set from JSF with my Reg' and that is what they included......what i will do is check the amount of screw i have left on the tappit adjusters when i do the clearance............

top job there... :good:

maybe.....valve caps with single springs....no valve caps with double springs.....what do you rekon ?

Could be the springs but I would guess the valve stem length would matter more. Maybe it's a way of compensating for wear but then would they be included with the new valves? I seem to get valve clearance without screwing the adjuster right in, so I'll put that worry aside until it starts.

I like the patina on mr.ditchman's block but my castings are new so I had to pick a colour. (Ford classic red, as it happens)

according to my research....valve caps are fitted to ...models

  1. Turbo-desiel
  2. 200 seris
  3. 300seris

it is not normal to fit valve caps to the 2.5 n/a model

on the by.........I HAVE MADE A MISTAKE.... oohhh eerrr !!....got to take the flywheel housing off....will post cockup later....

The court jester appears stage left to ensure the king can be mocked without any beheadings, in turn, he can then reflect on what has happened in his kingdom...... and balance is restored (almost)

trying to figure out if that is a left handed compliment or a thinly veiled insult............ :hmm:

If you're taking off the flywheel housing, you might want to consider the 200tdi gasket err1440. It's a lot neater than lots of sealant.

Thanks for the valve cap info. Don't know why the manual couldn't have mentioned that and saved me more worry.

Don't worry about mistakes as long as they're not repeated. Even I made a mistake. Once. A long time ago.

Sooo i thought to myself...i will put the flywheel on today....WRONG..........the "muppet " had not put the crankshaft oil seal in.....in fairness you can if you are very very very careful drift it in...the small seals usually take a socket or something similar...but this one needs to be pressed in...

1st pic scene of the crime..

2nd pic "prying" the case off the block....this i tell you needed 6 very sharp wedges to get it moving...after all that degreasing and quality mastic it had stuck and seal 100%....wot a bitch to get off....

it had stuck very well and compressed perfectly...100% seal....well at least that had worked !
