Redditch
Well, the day started well, on cut and baled stubble, with masses of grain laying on the ground, so the birds were hungry for it. Was set up by 06:30 and first shot fell at 07:06 (didn't want start shooting earlier so as not to upset the neighbours). At 07:30 we had about 10 when it really started to get busy, and by 08:00 we had 40+ HOWEVER, then the phone went, and it was the farmers mum, saying we had to stop shooting IMMEDIATELY, as neighbours were complaining that "shot was falling on the house" !! NO SHOTS WERE FIRED TOWARDS THE HOUSES, but we didn't argue, as it's the farmers prerogative to stop us shooting anytime he so wishes (or his agent, in this case his mother) SO! We stopped shooting immediately, and watched while we packed up, as flights of 10-20-30-40-50 a time came over, wood pigeons, feral pigeon, and corvids, all flying over, and us not shooting !! By the time we had packed up, and moved to another farm, two hours had gone by. We set up on some freshly cut stubble that hadn't yet been baled, but the birds were only interested in the fields that had been baled, and where there was lots of dropped grain to be had. Over the next two hours we managed another 10 birds, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle, so packed up The person who complained that shot was falling on his house, was, you guessed it, the son of the anti who said we were hitting his house the other day (over 500 metres away, and with wind against us). And yes, his father just happened to be visiting him too today. Failed to pick about 15-20 birds and this was what we did pick 13 carrion crow 14 jackdaws 3 grey crow 1 rook 10 feral pigeon 2 wood pigeon Edited September 11, 2015 by Redditch
WelshMike
Good shooting mate. Sorry to hear of the halt to proceedings, what a joke.
Redditch
Would have been at least a 200-300 bird day the way they were coming in when we were packing up :(

May be worth setting up some rope bangers and see if they complain about the shot from those

Wilts#Dave
What you need is a hushpower .410 . We've got various farms/fields where people use noise etc as an excuse to stop us shooting but not had one complain yet with the silenced gun....more and more people seem to have a problem with shooting in general these days. Expect the 7 o clock start didn't help either, but some people don't need an excuse to complain do they. Must have been ****** right off! JDog
Isn't that the second time in a week that you have been in trouble for firing 'nowhere near the house'?
Redditch
Isn't that the second time in a week that you have been in trouble for firing 'nowhere near the house'?Yep, first time the father, second time his son (his father was visiting at the time) The father has an aviary, so hates people shooting birds LOL. Hence, no matter where you shoot, unless you are over a mile away your "shot is dropping on the house" :( The farmers around here absolutely hate their whole family LOL. They also complain about tractor noise, dust and mud from fields, smell of animals and slurry, noise of animals, flies etc. you name it they complain about it :( What you need is a hushpower .410 . I'm waiting for my variation to be approved for a "fully moderated" over and under ejector 12gauge and then will get some sub sonic rounds too.A .410 wouldn't be much use, as most shots are in the 40-60 metre range Edited September 11, 2015 by Redditch

Mightymariner
Maybe the early start was what really angered the neighbours?
Redditch
Shouldn't have as when I've spoken to him before he always stated he was up by 06:00-06:30 Unless of course he had a hangover, as he doesn't work, just lives off benefits for the last 10 years with his wife and five kids, and does lots of "small jobs" on the side, cash in hand And I always start that early, never been a problem before. In the summer I'm usually set up by 04:30 and shooting by 05:00 as corvids are very early in the wing here. Go late and you get next to nothing as the flight is usually only about 2 hours. There's generalY another around midday yes, and another just before dusk, but they are shorter in duration. Maybe the early start was what really angered the neighbours? Redditch
Excuse my ignorance mate. Real shame that these people get away with disrupting a legal pursuit. Trouble is, plod here is always looking for a reason to take your licence, and invariably come down on the side of the townies. One of my farmers had new neighbours move in, retirees, and straight away complaints went in about smell, tractor noise etc. NOW he has a court order meaning he has to have most of the cattle in closed barns, with air con and air purifiers so smell and noise don't get out. He also can't use his tractors from 20:00 at night until 07:00 in the morning, as that's "noise pollution" If he spreads slurry or muck, it has to be ploughed in directly behind the sprayer by a following tractor, OR, he has to use an injection system to inject it INTO the ground :(

That is like buying a house next to a busy road and complaining...oh wait that happens as well. If you live in the countryside you should be aware of what goes on. Thats why, like you I hate living in a town as you have to expect noise from other peoples lawn mowers, vehicles, music etc.
