rogcal
Anyone got any tips on what to bait a trap with to catch squirrels? I've tried hazelnuts straight from our trees as they are very keen on them judging by how many I'm finding buried in the lawn but they're not interested. Any other tips i.e. where to place trap, covering it with foliage, etc would be appreciated. Thanks.

robbiep
Maize : they really seem attracted - I'm assuming the brightness of the colour helps.

Dekers
Peanut butter is almost always my first choice. Sweet corn works, and don't forget chocolate.

rogcal
Got the Squirrel in the end, now the lawn is being further destroyed by Badgers. Three of the s*ds at it earlier tonight and took their time about shifting even when I was just a few yards from them. Parts of the lawn now look like a scene from the Somme with craters everywhere. I shall have to spray some Jeyes fluid around to see if that'll move them on as it seemed to work in the past when they set up a series of latrines near the garden! robbiep
If possible (I'm thinking pets, kids, etc.) then I've had considerable success stopping badger latrine use in an area by using barbed wire. Basically, take a 6 foot or so length of barbed wire and twist it into a ring 18" or so across. Do that with a few pieces and scatter them on top of the latrine area.
