Per Magnus
Hi. Can someone tell me if SportTrap has some sort of official shooting menus (like the 40 official Compak programs), or if this is shot completely random as long as there is presented 1 single, 1 double on report and 1 double simo? VicW
Yes the clays are shot to a fixed menu so that there is a mixture of each of the five traps on each stand. Vic.
Per Magnus
Thanks. Do you know where I can find these menus? Can't see any info about this under the CPSA SportTrap rules.
VicW
The menus per stand are decided by the ground putting on the Sportrap. You will shoot five clays per stand times five making 25 clays. At each stand you will get a clay from each trap in the format you originally described. Vic.
Mr Potter
Per Magnus, Easiest thing to do is download the sportrap rules from the CPSA website and go through that. From memory there isn't a set of menus as there is in the FITASC Compaq discipline. https://www.cpsa.co.uk/userfiles/file/53938_CPSA_Rule_Book_AW_2015_HR.pdf PAGE 51 Mr Potter PS Come to think of it one ground I've shot Sportrap at always has a simple fixed menu, Stand 1 is single A, B+C report and D+E simo. Stand 2 is single B, C+D report and E+A simo and so on. Other grounds the sequence appears completely random. shaun4860
Our club uses A, B+D Report then C+E simo B, A+E Report then C+D simo C, A+B Report then D+E simo D, B+E Report then A+C simo E, B+D Report then C+A simo Don't ask me why, I havn't a clue, but thats how our layout is, Bywell use a totally different sequence but its not as Mr Potter suggested, I agree with him on the fact that everyone uses a completely random sequence :shaun
timps
I remember Manchester clay shooting holding a registered Sportrap/Mensa challenge one year, ABCDEFGH on the menu board was a bit different to say the least. Don't ask me what order they were in on the menu board as it frazzled my mind. I do remember a controversial tree though.
Per Magnus
Thanks for all replies.Mr. Potter: Yes, I have downloaded the rules but there are no set of menus from CPSA. Some friends of mine from Norway who attended a shooting at Southdown earlier this year told me that they shot:Single: A B C D E, Report: A/B B/C C/D D/E E/A, Sim: BC CD DE EA AB. I was just wondering if it is not common to show the first target in a pair. For example in Compak, you always see the first target in a pair since this is the last target shot by the shooter in front of you. shaun4860
At most places I've shot it, all the targets were shown to all the people in the cages at the start,
Westward
There is no pre-ordained menu from the governing body. It's up to the course setter, but most grounds that hold sportrap regularly use the same set of menus repeatedly.

I had to ref/mark/score that event... My counsellor reckons a few more sessions and I should be ok...

If so no wonder your dad changed his will to leave his guns to your sister... :)
Per Magnus
The Manchester competition sounds almost as "interesting" as an infamous event a shooting ground in the eastern part of Norway arranged a couple of years ago. They had a version of SportTrap / Compak with 50 targets shot in 1 round. 5 pairs on each stand and 15 machines in the program (!). A Mensa challenge indeed... So I remember the Tree layout very well!
