sandspider
Many thanks for all the input, especially the long and detailed posts. Not sure about the 3 wheeler option! Alas, there aren't many driveways where I work and everyone wants to park in the area, so even driveway parking is expensive. Then again, CBT, bike, safety gear, direct access etc. would all add up too. Definitely something to think about. Cheers.

Vince Green
Oh yes, all of my mates had FS1E's that hit 60? In their dreams. Old FS1E joke from back then Copper "Hey son do you realise to were doing 40 down that hill? I going to have to book you" Young FS1E rider "OK but can you make it 60? only I'm trying to sell it at the moment"
A1Decoy
I used to commute to work on a moped and when i upgraded to a 125 i never looked back. So much better, and no where near as loud!
Mentalmac
Moped commute would be pure luxury as you'd find you'll have no traffic really to worry about, and free parking, cheap petrol and low tax and insurance. Simples. Get some good wet weather gear, cold weather gear, and a sense of humour and you'll be ok.
malkiserow
or just use a bicycle with better clothing and your fitness will rocket with the extra miles.
a303
CBT . Ybr125 2007 onwards or cbf125 any year.if you want geared. Avoid the Chinese and Italian **** like the plague. Stick to scv100, Dylan 125, vity 125, etc if you want twist and go. A very cheap way to commute but no matter what gear you have expect to be cold in winter. Decent gear, heated grips/ muffs help but you'll still be cold. I only do this for a living.
