Alex C
Had a morning out at Thimbleby last Sunday, and all I can say is What A Difference. Was met by the lovely lady behind the counter with a smile and a bit of cheery banter. Had a quick butty, which was lovely, and then headed out. All the stands looked new and we had no issues with the card system, not too many No Birds and the layout was excellent. Couple of confidence builders followed by some absolute stinkers ! All in all we had a cracking morning and with the closure of JC Marsh, I can only see this ground going from strength to strength. If you haven't been for a while, I can recommend a trip Cheers

flycoy
A very good friend of mine runs the ground now and he is a very experienced and competent BASC coach, as is his wife, knowing him the ground will now move on with success after success! worked on a lot of events with them both and they don't do anything substandard Been to see him a couple of times and there has always been food available, you may have to wait while its cooked. don't know what happened when you went guys must have been a miss understanding Kevin is very approachable and will bend over backwards to lay on what you need so just ask him for his help! I wish him all the best for the club and have no doubt that area will soon benefit from a top class ground. flycoy

hawkeye
there was talk they would have to move them as they were sinking the ground was that wet ?
figgy
They did have puddles but we're very deep and need some infill that will probably sort out the drainage by bringing up the level to above the ground behind them. Look very good and will give them who will probably never shoot grouse a feel of what it's like.
tonksy777
The butts now have drain pipes dug in to the low ground at the other side of the path and are now filled with gravel we are having problems with the weather which is holding us up a bit. The bund needs finishing and the whole area tidying up then we should be able to sort out traps etc I will keep you informed as things progress thanks for your interest
figgy
Tonksy when the wooden butts were put into the bank side did they put a gravel infill between the wood and the soil to drain water straight down and round the sides like a French Drain this would also help the timber to last. tonksy777
figgy no the butts were built the same as they are on the moor using good pressure treated wood. The water that was in them was from rain fall rather than soaking the ground was supprisingly dry when you got down about 8 inch so should last well hopefully the whole area should be tidied up today weater and staff permitting

tonksy777
Thanks for the interest, this week we got about 30 metres of the track repaired along the back end of the ground, unfortunately the weater at the moment is doing a very good job of messing up any plans we are making Thanks for your patience we will get there. I just hope when we get them going everyone will be pleased with the work
