NIGHT SEARCHER
T W Chambers or www.gunspares.co.uk same firm. £31.40 for a full strip and rebuild seal kit. You could give Arther Branthwaite gun smiths a bell. 0161 485 1199. He has always been fair with me. The most i have paid for a repair is £45.00. Hope this helps Russ. Sha Bu Le
Seems rather a quick diagnosis, there is more than one seal could cause a leak. Did the guy in the shop dismantle anything? Anyhoos give the shop a body swerve £160 is silly money to fit a seal. If you are mechanically confident it is straightforward to do yourself. There are several sites that sell seal kits and there is loads of how to vids on you tube. Just do a search on HW100 seal change.
mike69
Thank sha bu le I've seen the vids on a seal change and I have priced the seals up I have even gone as far as pricing a gauge just incase I have to strip the whole thing down The leak happens when I put the air cylinder back in the regulator and tighten it up but when it's tight the leak stops

Sha Bu Le
Sounds like it may be the tiny seal that fits over the inlet valve to the action. If the air cylinder is removed regularly then it does wear, is yours a quick fill model or an earlier one? There is an upgraded seal available made from polyurethane I believe, takes 5 minutes to replace, just remove the air cylinder (may have to take the stock off (don't remember)) use a strong needle to get the old seal out careful not to scratch the valve then drop the new seal in touch of silicone grease. Woodwork back on and cylinder back in, firm hand tight..............job done. Try here http://www.hw100tuning.co.uk £2.50 for one or £3.25 for 2 ATB Bri Edit = alternatively if the leak stops when you nip the cylinder up leave well alone. chrisjpainter
Sounds like you need to find a new gunshop too. Sha Bu Le is right, it's not a hard job! Save yourself the money and do it yourself. You'll also learn a new skill for the next time it happens! Gun shops like that wind me up no end. You get people up and down the country prepared to pay a bit more to keep the local gun shops in business, but then you get shops like that that just completely let the side down. Do it yourself, then phone them to say you fixed it for next to nothing and that they've lost a customer because of it.

mike69
Thanks for the info guy The only thing that is bothering me is if it needs a full strip down then doesn't it get tricky

Sha Bu Le
Sha Bu Le its the earlier one Then I would defo go for the seal I described as a start, it is known to be the first seal to fail on earlier models. Doubt it would need a full strip down. There are two other seals that do eventually fail which require a partial strip down to replace. One is a crush fit which is easily accessible once the two halves of the block are separated. If the block has never been parted then it is probably alright. Whenever the block is parted this seal needs replacing. The other on the inside of the inlet valve piston is also easily got at when the block is parted. If you have to; follow the advice on U tube, it really is a piece of cake. But from your description of the problem and the fact its an earlier model go for the seal where the cylinder screws in. Only time I've seen anyone do a full strip down is when the gun is being tuned to improve performance or getting a gazillion mile service.
