Tim Kelly
Just found this on You tube. This is exactly the van I want, but with the steering wheel on the other side!

Tim Kelly
Too big for me, but a rare find.
scotslad
Built a lot of windmills up round this area and see quite a lot of big 4x4 vans now, never used to see any. Like i said i would not want to depend on the 4wd being enough to get it up the ramp. Would a 2wd van be enough to pull it out of most of the ramps? If so i'd try to fit a winch to the front of ur 2 wd van so on any occasion the wheels spin u can put the winch on and tow the van out, even if u get a 4x4 i'd probably still look to put a winch on just for belt and braces to make sure ur getting up. Tim Kelly
The ramps that cause the problems are either mud and gravel or steep gravel. My old landcruiser did it effortlessly, but the front wheel drive van either digs in or just spins up. Doesn't need to be a super mud plugger, just a moderately competent 4WD system to spread the traction.
scotslad
Ur tyre may be the weak point thou. Might not be able to get very grippy tyres to suit the van wheel sizes. Might just end up with all 4 tyres spinning Amazing how even a light trailer fairly screws up ur grip/off road ability
Tim Kelly
Pretty confident it would be OK, but it's all a bit academic as they appear to be as rare as hens teeth.
rjimmer
Too big for me, but a rare find. There's a 4x4 transit on that page.
rjimmer
Might be worth considering putting a ball hitch on the front of the front-wheel-drive van for much better grip in reverse, failing that, fit a winch on the front if the boat trailer has a decent jockey wheel. LowStandards
Delica L300 Pajero underneath, dayvan on top. Strip of out and board it, will go where a Pajero can You're welcome (I guess you could get an L400... If you're into that sort of thing)
