Glenlivet
Hi. I have a Beretta Silver Pigeon S and need to know whether it takes Optima or Mobil chokes. Markings on current chokes are, for example, PB-IC-SP so P Beretta, improved cylinder, steel proof. No clue in owners manual, only reference to both. mickmep
choke type should be stamped on the barrel.
kennett
Does that not mean lead-improved cylinder-steel proofed? The chemical symbol for lead is Pb, my friends silver pigeon was Mobil, because I had some spare chokes off him for my old bettinsoli Edited November 18, 2015 by kennett
the crowman
I have a SP3 and my chokes a Mobil, the threads are at the top of the choke if that helps.

Glenlivet
I have a SP3 and my chokes a Mobil, the threads are at the top of the choke if that helps.Thread at the top matches so could well be the same. Don't know why they don't stamp the choke tubes.
Tony G
If the thread is at the top and the choke is only 2 inches long its Mobil choke, same as my silver pigeon steel

Glenlivet
Hope this helps! That's the chap - Mobil it is, short with thread at the top. Thanks everyone, looks like wife's Teague Christmas present will be cheaper than I had feared :-) Pity the manufacturers don't provide a less generic owner's manual! Westward
Silver pigeons are mobil Except for the ones that are Optima and the ones that are Optima HP! SP sporters have been fitted with Optima barrels for at least 12 years. The current version of the SP-1 has Optima HP.
