rodp
Don't forget the end game that IsIs has..... Armageddon by armies fighting each other. Fact or supposition ?
poontang
The Fencer had been repeatedly warned. The track shows it was in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds. It was shot down. According to Turkey they issued 10 warnings in 5 minutes, so if it was only in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds?? Why wasn't it escorted by Turkish jets if they were genuinely worried? You know, like we do over the North Sea on a regular basis. There was absolutely no need whatsoever to bring it down, it's only heightened tensions between countries who should be working together to find a solution to the ISIS problem. As for Barry Obama talking about 'moderates' being targeted, he's talking about the same 'moderates' who shot and killed 2 unarmed airmen falling to earth by parachute. That's exactly the sort of thing I would expect from ISIS. I think Hamster has got it pretty much spot on with his analysis of the situation. Scully
To a large extent Isis is now funding itself through oil sales, kidnap ransoms, smuggling, extortion, taxes, looting, bank robberies. When it was starting out, Isis was seed funded by wealthy donors individuals and charities from across the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. At first, the governments of the Persian kingdoms openly gave money to the opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, including Isis. This has since become politically and diplomatically incorrect but large amounts of money still finds its way to Isis from wealthy individuals from the Persian gulf. Ta. grrclark
10 warnings in 17 seconds not looking too clever at all. I understand that there were warnings from the air traffic controllers that the aircraft was approaching Turkish airspace so perhaps the 5 minutes of warnings is not a ridiculous statement. I absolutely do believe that there is much more to this then we will get to hear about, whether that is a western led shove of Turkey to engage, whether there have been numerous unreported incidents that have led the Turk's to run out of patience or whether it was just a far too enthusiastic Turkish air crew. Mungler
Apparently at worst the jet was 1 mile inside turkey airspace and for a few seconds Now then, when I do 60 mph I'm doing a mile a minute. How fast do these jets go? As has been said, absolutely no need to pull the trigger; and we're all on the same side against ISIS right....? I reckon the Ruskies will get their own back sure enough - Putin has public support and won't want to lose face. .
