r1steele
I bought a picture frame which fronted a display box about an inch and a half deep a few years ago to make a salmon fly display for my father. I bought it at The Range in the arts and craft department. It was about 18" square but i think bigger sizes were available. Try looking for something like 'picture frame display box' and you may find something. Get a good stiff backing board and set your cartidges how you want them (I got a good friend who is very good at calligraphy to write the names of the flies i displayed) and then stick them down with araldite or something similar. hanky
Dont drill or damage the cartridge in any way it will completely devalue them, if you want to mount them use bands around the cartridge, I have seen some real rare cartridges completely messed up and now valueless - BE WARNED ! I made a few fly displays years ago. The best way to mount them was---when tying the fly, tie in a large paper staple on body, when fly was finished I put 2 holes in backing card, the stapled fly inserted and the back of staple bent over. hope that sounds clear. I have done similar with paper clips but the last one I done I used small double sided sticky foam pads, About 1/4 inch cube, and I found the flies looked better as they were raised off the backing card and almost looked as if they were floating in the box. tikka6mmbr
I used an old print letter draw and put a sheet of Perspex over it 👍
MGMPEST
I recently did this, bought a 300x300 frame off fleabay, a backer card(same size) and a hot melt glue gun. worked a treat and a fraction of the cost. Compared to some i'd seen online for well over £150.
