besty57
This might sound daft, but does anyone know if there is such a thing ,only asking as I had to have 2 thorn tips removed from my springers left eye yesterday.so I thought if horses wear blinkers..... loriusgarrulus
http://doggles.uk.com/doggles-hints-tips.html Whether you will get them to wear them is another matter. The mesh ones look the best bet, but I would imagine they would easily be lost, but with the double strap you might get away with it. fortune
Unless they were glued on the Springer would be ripping them off in 2 seconds flat. I had a dog that lost an eye due to a thorn injury. Costly in vet bills for me and very painful for the dog. The dog was still a good hunter and had a long hunting life. I miss the dog as the others. No easy answer other than to try to slow the dog down and to try to avoid blackthorn as much as possible. Brambles don't seem to be much of a problem. Yeah expensive.also when under sedation had his stomach X-rayed as the vet could feel something there ,and had to have surgery and removed 2 stones.one from first intestine ,one from his stomach.so the bill quadrupled to £ 700 http://doggles.uk.com/doggles-hints-tips.html Whether you will get them to wear them is another matter. The pink ones will match his eye this morning,
loriusgarrulus
Makes £18.99 seem a cheap risk against £700 and the risks of surgery.
tbox
I got some Doggles for Phoebe my cocker for when we're out in my 2-seater car as it doesn't have a windscreen... She looks quite dashing with her goggles and ears flapping in the wind! Edited December 31, 2015 by tbox
WGD
You've been unlucky, hard hunting spaniels will get injured - it goes with the territory. But strapping them up with all types of stuff to try and protect them just offers more opportunity for them to get caught up and injured IMO. That's what I was worried about.just thought there might be something along the lines of the headgear a racehorse wears including some sort of eye protection. Your probably thinking of blinkers on racehorses and cart-horses. They block side vision to focus on going forwards. Some horses also wear fly screens when in the fields in Summer. Absolutely. she's got a harness that I've modified to work with the 4-point harness fitted . Apart from anything, if she's not restrained she tries to sit on my lap and lick my face! loriusgarrulus
Love it. It's difficult to drive with a dog in your face. Mine have the Ezi-dog harnesses with a different clip to anchor them to the seat belt points.

figgy
Can you imagine a dog on a shoot wearing a bright orange tube on its head to Protect its ears. You be a laughing stock. Better off using surgical tape to protect them.
