harpoonlouis
Mods, please advise, is it OK to post a link to a campaign to keep the Jack Russell OUT of the KC? Whatever the answer how do any other members feel about the KC trying to impose a breed standard on the JR? Fills me with a sense of dread. Lloyd90
Worst thing that could happen to a lot of breeds The knob head breeders be rubbing their hands thinking of the ££, saying that mind, my bird what's a bloody cockapoo (poodle x cocker) ... You can get a well bred cocker for £4-600 which is still bloody expensive , but there crosses are advertised for £8-1200 ... Dread to think! chrisjh
I wouldn't consider buying from a so called "KC" breeder seen lots of pedigree dogs with all sorts of messed up inbreed problems, i have had terrier dogs usually Jack Russell x with Manchester terrier or Lancashire heeler great ratting dogs brilliant family pets keep KC away
felly100
It's bonkers isn't it? The Rev jack Russell bought the "first"one off his milkman for crying out loud. Even though he was a KC judge he wouldn't show his dogs because he knew they didn't conform to any standard. All of us white bodied terrier fans know what they should look and be like, without any interference thank you.

The guys that breed real earth working JR will not be interested one bit about KC registration. Only the people that show/sell them will be interested. So there is nothing to be worried about at all. Remember the KC do not write breed standards nor breed dogs, they are simply a registration body.

Exactly, it'll only change the working breed if those breeding them embrace registration which hardly seems likely...
geordieh
When pup prices go up to £450-500 a pup they will soon start embracing KC registration
cocker boy
When pup prices go up to £450-500 a pup they will soon start embracing KC registration I have never, nor have my close friends, bought or sold a earth dog. Ever. Money is never in the conversation between real terrier men.
kent
Breed standards are no bad thing Look at the strains of working lab that lack almost all the features yet are still kc registered No its showing that realy changes things as breed standards get exaggerated gradually to the point of being ridiculous and unhealthy A working terrier is exactly that and I don't know many terrier men who give a monkeys about a kc cert or for that matter much other than its parents capabilities

They slope there back over time and apparently it looks good?? My 2 are both kc registered how ever they were one off litters by a family friend for £200. My boy has good blood lines though, he and the entire family excel in personal protection and security, at £200 I cant argue :L they should leave the jacks out of it, honest working dogs are getting quite hard to come by with the idiots charging a fortune with **** blood lines. WGD
Kc and showing ruined German shepherds. Sorry but you can't blame the KC for poor breeding, the ruination of any breed is down to the people managing the stock.

The KC have never ever bred a dog. People that breed dogs ruin the breed not the KC. You don't blame the DVLA when the rear diff breaks on your discovery 3 do you ?.
