darren m
hi lads -- before i go out and waste my money on various fox calls , can someone recommend one that works and also how well it worked. Thanks Darren .
tommy trucker
the best one i have used and still use is a 3 in 1 lohman call its quite expensive about £23 but u only get what u pay for. this call has brought foxes in from no where for me and has very rarely not worked even on some call shy foxes that didnt want to know any of my other calls. i very rarely use anything else now. all i need is this call and my hand for calling. but be quick i've been told that this call is to be discontinued. my local gun shop is a bit ****** :< off as it was his no1 seller. thats how good it is. chomondley
Try squeaking on the back of your hand, dirt cheap and works a treat. Or a wet bit of polystyrene dragged down your wing mirror. Hand is my favourite though. Squeaked up five a treat the other night.
ollie
Widgeon callers are excellent. But also damp polystirene on glass is pretty effective.
Quercus
The Wam squealer has to be my favourite. Q
Tim1
the buck gardner squirrel call has an excellent squeaker. on the flip side, i found the acme fox calls to be useless, but that's probably me...

sutty
I go for the polystyrene on the windscreen trick. I find it easier to perform than the back of the hand style. old charlie has nearly climbed in the cab sometimes. regards sutty

Pigeon_decoyer
I dont like calling in foxes at night because i once started calling in one and another one came up from behind and started sniffing my leg and at that point i **** myself turned around and shot the little plonker! ollie
**** that is a load of bu***hit P.D. , you may be able to fool some of the people on the site who have never been lamping before but you won't be able to fool the experienced ones (i'm not saying i'm one of them). The only chance of that happening is if it was a totally tame fox and even then i can't see that happening. So stick to the stuff that you know about and don't talk ****. Jakalguinness
just on the calling foxes during the day, i find while it is nowhere near as effictive as calling at night when lamping and rifleing them. it does have its uses when out foxing during daylight hours and particularly at dawn or dusk it distracts them if you need to move in closer or change position to start moving in if your not completely downwind. works for me weather i'm using rifle or shotgun but particularly effective when shotgunning as can speed up gettin those last few yards for range when 'ol basil normally bolts. ps i use back of my hand. Rabbit Stalker
It must have been a tame fox then, Can you tell by looking at it? The wind was blowing my back and so obviously it couldn't hear us!
Cakie174
can anyone explain the back of the hand technique? That sounds a bit sorbid
Pigeon_decoyer
It's a little hard to explain but basically, you kiss the back of your hand and it should sound like a hurt bunnie, other foxes hear it and they think that a rabbit is laying there hurt so they come and see and then thats when you shoot the *******!
