sako751sg
Apparently the ink is on the dotted line but not sure if its legit. Not sure what weight its going to be at as Alvarez took the MW crown from Cotto at a catchweight and should have been fighting GGG at 160lb but has tried to get that at a catchweight too which is a farce. Edited to say, just seen a link claiming the fight is a CW of 155lb,and Alvarez is quoted "“As the middleweight champion of the world, I will take on the best fighters in the sport and on Cinco De Mayo weekend, I look forward to making the first defense of my titles,” said Canelo Alvarez. “Amir was a decorated amateur, a two-time world champion and is in the prime of his career. Fans are in for a great fight on May 7.” Another joke in boxing if right.GGG is the best MW out there and yet Alvarez is fighting someone thats has never fought above 147. cwmmawr
Probably ! Saying that Golovokin hasn't gone in with anyone like canelo not his fault mind he is avoided obviously but it will happen de la Hoya hasn't got the fighters anymore canelo is his one Pay per view star
fenboy
My prediction is Khan to be on his back by the end of round

Shame because Oscar ducked nobody but with the fighters he has lost hes not keen on taking the chance. Alvarez was supposed to be using this fight as a tune up for GGG but fighting a WW gives the impression he has no intention of facing him any time shortly. cwmmawr
Yeah your right it's a going to be very tough night for Khan though everything is in Alvarez favour Saying that its a big fight it will sell ok on hbo I presume . Puts a bit of pressure on Eddie Hearn and kell brook that's for sure that's the one fighter who has disappointed me fighting Jo jo Dan ,frankie gavin and Kevin bizier when your a title holder at 147 is poor Khan proved he can get the big fights at last . Gordon R
Golovkin is the best around - full stop. Alvarez would do well to avoid him. I expect Khan to be badly knocked out - Alvarez can punch and doesn't have a glass jaw - it will leave him with nowhere profitable to go. http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/amir-khan-vs-canelo-alvarez-announced-for-may-7/ Brook won't be interested in fighting Khan on an even split. If Khan loses to Alvarez, he would be lucky to be on the wrong end of an 80/20 split. Edited February 2, 2016 by Gordon R
cwmmawr
Depends on the manner of defeat I suppose it and I'm not saying it will happen if Khan does better than expected who knows there could be a rematch it's the weight difference that spoils it for me and I expect canelo to win it A defeat doesn't mean the end of the world it's how it occurs sometimes, look at shawn porter lost to brook but fought adrien broner and now a big fight against Keith thurman he has gone forward where brook has gone back
Gordon R
I genuinely worry that Khan will be badly hurt. I don't like him, but giving away weight to Alvarez seems ill advised.
SuperGoose75
Seems to be a crazy move for Team Khan going up to fight a big hitter..I was sure he would have took an easier option as a warm up to fighting Brook. At the same time it could suit Khan better as he often struggles to make weight and sacrifices power in the process.. An interesting one. As for GGG..Isnt he getting alot of stick at present being accused of Ducking Andre Ward..? Gennady Golovkin is an animal but a match up with Unbeaten Ward would be some humdinger of a Scrap. evo
a big mistake by team khan,, but his bank manager will be happy that's for sure, in saying that khans speed like mayweathers might just cause an upset but I doubt it

Only by his haters. Andre Wards last fight was at LHW and prior to that SMW where as GGG has been operating at MW so hardly a duck if they are not even in the same division. Les*1066
It will be another pay day for Khan - and probably his last. The bottom line is that he just isn't good enough to fulfill expectations.

DannyS
I'll give credit to Khan for taking the fight as he's is gunna take serious damage and he knows that. But what is Canelo doing!!?? Fighting a guy that fights at 147lb for the 160lb middleweight title at a catch weight of 155lb..... Khans not a little welterweight tho, so with extra weight i dont think he'll get bullied around the ring....it's just whether he can keep that chin tucked in lol.....i wont be betting on him. Yeah your probably right about the haters.I like them both and I aslo believe there was talk about a GGG V Froch fight before he retired and even Mr Froch said it was a joke due to the difference in weight. Still it would be a fight you would love to see if possible between to Class fighters such as Ward and GGG. Your so right DannyS...Alvarez is not doing much for his reputation picking a lighter fighter for the 1st defence of his title. At the same time Khan will have gained a lot of respect and new Fans for having the bottle to take this fight.. His haters wont show him any respect for this of cousre and will glory in seeing him getting knocked out. I also wouldnt be betting on him winning but i doubt anyone would be giving Kell brook much of a chance either had it been him going up to fight Alvarez. Oh' how I would love Khan to come through this fight if only to silence the haters but deep down I know this is a case Of... Khan' Whistling as he walks past the Graveyard.
