nature's menu

If you are going to feed raw you need to do your research first its not just a case of feeding a single source , they need a certain % of meat / offal / skin / bone / veg / etc, etc to give a balanced diet.

Natures menu is convenient but works out expensive , compared to other sources of raw.

I feed a variety of nature's menu products alongside a small portion of good quality complete food. I use the mince blocks (with ground bone in) and also the duck necks and "freeflow" tripe mince. I also feed lamb hearts bought from the butcher and liver either natures menu or from butcher. Not all of these go in every meal!

Dogs are thriving although it is a little more effort because of the various different "components".

Thank for the feedback, I was thinking of using the chunks that contain veg, fruit and bone but as you say it could work out expensive. Does anyone know a good place to find out info on recipes for feeding a good balanced diet.

Where abouts are you from? There's a company just outside leek called posh paws. I feed my 2 gsd's around 2 and a quarter kilos a day between them. Works out at about £70 a month which isn't too bad considering there size. Only down side is because I weigh it all and sort it myself it takes the best part of 3 hours every other week. Bar that, there healthy, well fed and happy dogs :) good luck with what ever you choose

The best places around our area for raw feeding supplies are halls at Hendon (Sunderland) and DAF (durham animal feeds) at Ferryhill, they have a website.

I use a variety of raw foods and dry complete kibble. Raw consists of fresh and frozen meat, offal and bone from a variety of sources, shredded veg, fruit, herby shrubs, berries and boiled rice. I tend to stay clear of wheat and barley grain since it makes my dog farty and therefore use rice and veg plus meat based kibble. If you keep the right %'s of nutrients in mind during a weeks feed and give variety then you're not far wrong.

DAF are good.
