ShootingEgg
Have a very good permission that normally turns out good crow numbers.. The last three times though have not produces very good numbers. Today got there at 7:30 to find close to 100 already sat eating from the maize pit. Set the hide up and as i was doing it the crows were at a distance but not moving on. First crow came in, presented itself brilliantly and the 20g did the job and drops it. That inturn emptied the farm of all crows.. After about an hour I saw two heading straight to the pattern, i quietly told my mate who was sat next to, i was running commentary as they slowly drifted in, then bang.... My mate had seen one coming from behind and as it went over he shot and nicely landed it on an empty stable block.... So instead of sending the dog he sent me, being slightly smaller than him i drew the short straw... I made a ladder out of a pallet and took a hide pole so.i could reach the crow.. Ended up with 3 from 4 that came into the pattern. Not as good as other days ive had there but every little helps. Jim Neal
Problem is you don't give much thought to where it's landing when you know the shot's on and the chances are good! Health and Safety Executive = the splendid government department responsible for insanely time-consuming and costly procedures and red tape just to do a simple job. At some point back in time, somebody somewhere in government decided that absolutely nobody in the country has any common sense, therefore we are all treated like idiots on pain of a fine or imprisonment! Well i did a risk assessment and felt there was a risk. Of the lovely little blonde who uses the stable giving us a slap for leaving the crow on the roof.
