cardigun
I bought this new about a year ago, and the safety catch was so tight, I had to get it eased. Then the barrel selector wouldn't move, and I had to get that fixed. Everything works fine now, but I am hearing whispers that the 690 Field has "problems". Does anyone know anything about this rumour , as it is starting to worry me.?
Westward
The only issue with these is the same as with the other 690s, the SV10s and also the 692s. Namely the ejectors. They are user switchable to extract and when the selector 'O' rings become worn or broken they can intermittently fail to eject and simply extract instead. This design was introduced on the SV10s back in about 2009 and immediately ran into this problem. Despite 2 or 3 re-designs Beretta has never found a permanent fix. When they aren't in denial about the problem I believe they recommend filling the selector housing with silicon grease to damp down the vibration which stresses and degrades the 'O' rings. Obviously, if you only use extract mode there's nothing to worry about.
samboy
Iv'e read quite a bit lately about Beretta's not being as well built as they used to be. I wish i'd never sold my old 682's.
Wilts#Dave
Do the new silver pigeon models suffer with the same problems or are they still as bullet proof as the older models? Had my 682 golde from new and never had a single problem, fired thousands of shots over the years. Westward
It's quite easy to remove the ejectors and the little selector thingies and check the 'O' rings. They are a standard size and cost pennies.
