Scully
https://ukshootingnews.wordpress.com/2016/04/19/eu-gun-ban-danger-has-not-yet-passed/ Hey ho....
The Mighty Prawn
I really think it's a dangerous game quoting that site as it's worse than celebrity tattle magazines for its poorly researched articles, this 'article' quotes a secondary source that 'suspects' based on their complete guesswork that something is happening. Then further down it mentions someone pushing for a gun ban, and also tighter controls on ammunition and three year licenses - well if guns are banned I don't suppose it matters what your ammo controls or ticket length are? Don't get me wrong I realise there are potentially changes ahead but spreading conjecture and rumour is just muddying the waters and meaning lots of half truths or downright lies find their way into the debate. Scully
It's a blog, not a scientifically researched piece of literature, and is only the authors opinion, much like most of the posts on PW. The author has only been wrong once as far as I'm aware, but fair enough and point taken. I'll no longer post links to it.

Also point taken, I'm being a bit grouchy tonight so nothing personal and apologies if I was blunt
robbiep
It is a blog, yes. But he passes it off as "shooting NEWS". Even the website name contains that. Plus the very first thing written on the webpage. So it would be expected that a certain journalistic standard would be maintained. As it is, it basically says nothing and speculates a lot, whilst trying to make it sound dramatic. A bit like the articles in the Daily Fail (other toilet paper is available) every November which talk about the "Arctic blasts coming our way which might see parts of the country shivering and suffering feet of snowfall ... over the next few months. Read it carefully ... "It appears eurocrats aren't giving up" ..."is said to be proposing" ...
TommyB
Suggest you read the source materials and articles he links in the blog. There are certainly things there on the EU level that were news to me. It would seem that our government along with France, Germany and Italy are the main supporters of this idiotic firearms legislation. simonb
There are always those who do not have a qualified opinion yet are very ready to criticise those who for the correct and proper motivations obtain and impart information. I believe that UKSN are giving a good service. How else would I know what is said in the 'heady' world of European politics. I do not believe the author is giving an opinion what (he) is doing is imparting information gained as any good journalist should do. If there a bias then good, perhaps he has an affinity with or in fact is a shooter. Due to UKSN I was able to communicate in a qualified intelligent manner with MEPs of all political flavours across the EU. I for one consider the report on the words and actions of Ms. Vicky.Ford MEP by UKSN informative and interesting even to the point of being (slightly) hopeful of a positive and continued (target) that is target shooting future until of course the latest 'blog' and then how would I have known the possible change without the efforts of UKSN, Always a need for qualified and constructive criticism. Alternatively learn shorthand, get your notepad drive to Brussels and report. If I need to say it again "Good on yer UKSN". Remember also this is a 'part time' publication which speaks even more of the author
Rewulf
Due to UKSN I was able to communicate in a qualified intelligent manner with MEPs of all political flavours across the EU. +1 First time Ive ever written to a politician (sort of) Plus one again for making it so easy too! Whatever you think of UKSN writing style or sources ,I think any blog or site that actively promotes or protects our sport cant be a bad thing. Unless you truly believe that the EU and good number of UK politicians DON'T want to see a severe or total restriction on private firearm ownership, then I hope sites like UKSN keep at it,and PW members keep posting links to it please. Savhmr
It's old news but no secret that the EC and EP both wish to see a total gun ban, and if they can't get it through the front door, they'll go the back-door route via hiked taxes and additional gun controls. As above, any blog which highlights these things is welcome in my view. Apathy is the enemy, not the opposition.
