andrew f
Finished work early Tuesday evening and decide to go deer stalking grabbed the gear and off I went. I drove to the other side of the farm and started glassing from the road and spotted to white bums going though a gateway. Drove down the lane got the gear out and started stalking down the hedge poked my head over and saw two roe deer quick glass and one of them had the right equipment put the roe sack and binos down on the ground popped my head over the hedge to make sure the deer were still there and to my horror they spooked knelt down to grab the stuff on the ground and the same roebuck appeared 75 yards in front of me he stopped and turned front on and stared at me slowly I got the bipod ready got into a prone position popped the lens caps up the buck barks at me and comes walking at me with some swagger I thought what the F is going on here. Had the buck fever kick in as I let him walk to me my little mantra was whispered its only a deer with nuts and antlers. Gave him a Oi cross hairs on the neck back stop check squeezed the trigger bang dropped on the spot neck bone completely destroyed on inspection. Quick gralloch had time for one more. Drove around and glassed the other fields and saw 15+ deer a few little bucks coming on let them be to see what they make of themselves next year. I went to the next farm walked down to a field and saw 8 deer in it glassed two bucks in amongst some the does. The wind wasn't in my favour if I tried to stalk down the hedge and up into the deer and stalking into them from above was a no go no backstop so it was a hands a knees job for 120+ yards mumbling I am to old for this ****, by now the light is going and decide I am close enough for another neck shot got settled behind the rifle when I was ready I let the round off watched him drop in the scope the other deer looked up wandered over to see why Bucky had fallen over and carried on grazing much to my annoyance wouldn't do that if I wasn't after the other one bumped them on gralloch and a drag back to the car and off home I went. WelshMike
Nice job bud. Sometimes the easy ones are the most difficult as there is a heightened sense of excitement and "I cant miss that shot".
