chrisjpainter
Is there anywhere people would recommend? I'm up there for a couple of days and would love to take the perch and pike rods for some lure fishing fun, but I've never fished up that way. Free/day ticket, lakes or canals - any suggestions would be most welcome
carl jones
I used to work away in Milton Keynes and always went lure fishing on the grand union canal and the ouse. Not sure if they run thru Northampton tho? Worth a check. Good fishing too Atb Carl

the crowman
Don't forget you're rod license....and I'm sure the rivers are close season from the 15th March to the 15th June 😊😊
chrisjpainter
The rivers are, yeah, which is why I was after anything about the canals and lakes The grand union could be fun, thanks Carl. I'll have a google and see what clubs are around
pigeon controller
Not sure if it helps , but lots of guys lure fish the Grand Union below Brum for Zander, pike and perch. They may be further down towards London.
The Mighty Prawn
I used to spin the Nene and Grand Union downstream at Wellingborough and it was fairly stuffed with Perch and Zander, obvs the river is out but the canal is fair game - plus maybe a bonus shopping trolley or two! Tony G
Thanks tony. is that part of a club? where abouts would you suggest going? All the canal is day ticket ( if a bailiff appears ! ) Milton Keynes to Leighton Buzzard is MK club, then through Leighton is Luton Angling club then it changes to Tring Angling club as you get beyond Slapton I think the fishing is fairly spread out and as its a canal you can cover a lot of water in a session Seen Perch out over 3lb through the Leighton stretch Hope this helps mate
carl jones
Yes mkaa run Milton stretch day ticket too. Apparently there's a few cats in . When I had a mkaa season ticket the record was 30ib plus in the canal . Iv took plenty pike too with a popper but not no big ones. Good size perch I can vouch for many 2ib + on lures. Might sound silly but I used to cast a lure out and troll the lure by walking up the canal. Very productive! Atb Carl
Tony G
Definately cats in the canal,I used to fish and bailiff one of the best cat waters in Leighton Buzzard
