wymberley
Not over enamoured with the damn things, but, still, they need to be kept clean. I use a Payne Galway phospher bronze for the barrel with the choke in place and am wondering if this is too much for the barrel portion threads. Rightly or wrongly, have just ordered a couple of nylon bore brushes for this job. Advice welcome, please.
AlistairB
My old M2 had a thread cleaner on the opposite end of the the choke key to the key itself which was useful, but for my Beretta, i use a Beretta choke cleaner PB brush, so yours would probably be fine. After all, the choke threads are still the same material as the rest of the barrel so it wont damage it. Hamster
Index finger pushed through with a lightly oiled rag then twist gun underneath or old toothbrush and rag in place of finger and keep twisting the handle. Feel free to say it's wrong but you're 35 years too late.
TIGHTCHOKE
As said above, an old toothbrush is perfect for the job.
wymberley
Thanks, Guys. The PG brush is new and I thought that it might be a bit too fierce albeit being a softer material. At my age I don't need a toothbrush and I don't think the Steradent tablets will work. Nylon bore brush on a short chamber brush handle = a toothbrush for me. Thanks again. Agree 100% with all of the above; I never change my chokes - and they are only there because the previous owner added (Teagued) them! I take them out periodically, clean both barrel and choke threads with a bit of rag/cloth and regrease. Your nylon brushes you will find excellent as the final stage of cleaning in adding a very thin film of oil.
