Ferret Master
Hi all, Apologies if this has already been covered, but I was wondering what people's thoughts were or if they had any further information on the prospect of us losing the Fenn Trap in July this year?My sources: http://www.ishootmag.com/features/news/stoat-traps-under-threat/ https://www.gwct.org.uk/media/562868/AIHTS-timeline.pdf http://www.gscgrays.co.uk/2015/12/03/the-future-of-fenn-traps-looks-bleak/ Many thanks,FM
kennett
If you read the * at the bottom, the legislation only applies to certain species (stoat, badger, otter, beaver and pine marten) since I am yet to see a fenn trap big enough for a badger it shouldn't affect many of us. Incidentally, how do you set a fenn for rats or squirrels but exclude stoats?! Edited May 11, 2016 by kennett

Stonepark
Fenn traps will not pass the new standard, here is link to Canadian approved traps, all designed to catch head/neck. http://fur.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/IDsheets_killingtraps_ENG.pdf Closest in Uk is BMI Bodygrip traps but like fenn they target wrong way of killing but the DOC traps should get approval easily enough Edited May 11, 2016 by Stonepark
