srspower
In my many searches for recommendations, it is often said that your computer, incl all the software, has to be uptodate and functioning well for the Win10 install to be totally effective. Out of date software, drivers, etc., can mess things up. One "expert" said that if your computer was more than 3 years old, forget it. If you install any new Microsoft operating system you should go get the correct drivers for all of your hardware ie: sound card, graphics card etc. Then do a clean install after a format and install the drivers. That isn't a windows 10 thing it's a microsoft thing and its because Windows can be installed on so many different hardware configurations. A PC older than 3 years can run windows 10 fine, provided it is of a decent specification ie: quad core cpu and 8 gb of ram.

Paul223
Gave up on pc's after buying a laptop with Windows 8. 8 was too much like hard work and constant hack/virus problems, nowadays I just use my phone for absolutely everything, there's an app to do just about anything and £30 buys a Bluetooth keyboard for when writing more than a message or post. Bobba
Going to give a different opinion to all the above. I wouldn't, you concede far too many privacy rights and far too much control to the whim of Microsoft. I despise the company. If what you have now works then stick with it. Basically I agree. However, you do have some, albeit limited, control of what is fed back to Microsoft. In my case Windows 10 loaded itself. Yes, it really did. Concerned, I took my PC to a local IT shop with a good reputation to check that all had been loaded correctly and to check things in general. (They said that I wasn't the first person to experience this). I asked if what is reported back to Microsoft could be disabled. They said that a lot was possible in the set-up options with tick boxes to stop certain reporting and they would do that. Since then, I have looked on the Internet and YouTube "how do I stop Microsoft 10 spying on me?" And there is a lot of help out there. Windows 10 is rubish on old computers I installed it on my old pc and nothing would work and had to pay a local firm to remove it and reinstall windows8 .
