Lord Geordie
I had a front wheel bearing starting to hum a few month back! I kept putting off the work as I wanted to buy a decent set of tools! I would have used a hammer, socket, g-clamp etc at one point! And made do. Not any more! I decided it was time to get myself some decent tools that will last! I bought a sykes picavant circlip remover, "sick of slipping and bashing knuckles etc" and they work a treat! The bearing tool is a set of different size metal bushes, a set of four different size sleeves and caps, and the large nut and bolt that goes through to drive the bearing. It removed the bearing with ease! Pressed home the new bearing, and seated the hub all very nicely! Not a swear word in the job! Has to be one of the best purchases I have ever made! It should last a lifetime! Beauty is, I didn't have to remove the strut to carry out the work Very happy

rodp
We used to have a 200 ton press, lovely tool. All the local hauliers used to use it for truck bearings. One day a local came in with hub assembly off a new Scanny, wanted to push bearings out. They set it up and I gave him the wander lead. A few seconds of humming and I said to the bloke with controls "there's a fair bit on that now you know". He carried on, and all of a sudden "BANG", one scrap Scanny hub spread across the work shop. Good tools are nice ............ but you can be over tooled at times

Ball bearings and shattered bits of casing can suddenly become very dangerous.

walshie
I thought you were going to say lump hammer and cold chisel. That's the extent of my bearing tools.
