Wingman
I may have a trip to the US with work soon and planned to buy a load of bits while I am there. Does anyone know what the current situation is regards bringing parts such as stocks and forends, recoil springs etc back to the UK? I always seem to get my luggage opened and a little calling card from the TSA so was thinking about putting it all in hand luggage.
guzzicat
Don,t think hand baggage would work, just look at the harmless things you see at baggage control, hold luggage is best, I fetched a pair of Harley Davidson fork legs in a couple of years back, opened case , must have looked like a pair of 4 bore barrels. markm
Last year I brought back a new reloading press in my case. When it arrived in the uk the case had been opening, inspected and passed by TSA (piece of paper in the case). Make sure you're allowed or you may be in trouble. phaedra1106
There's a $100 limit on firearms components, things like barrels, bolts, upper & lower assemblies etc. need an export license. Reloading equipment is fine apart from powders, primers, cases & bullets.
casts_by_fly
And absolutely nothing in your hand baggage- checked only. Rick
phaedra1106
I always bring scopes back in my hand baggage, was advised to do so by the TSA due to the severe handling hold luggage gets. Also worth putting any delicate electronics and photographic film in there as they severely ramped up the power of the hold baggage X-Ray machines after 9/11. I've already booked 2 extra cases for this years trip, one case needed for another set of the Frankford Arsenal rotary steel pin tumbler and their large case prep centre.
