kody
If a field has been rolled has it been planted or ready to be planted
aga man
Usually it is rolled after drilling, some farmers will roll after ploughing though especially when dry. Was the field barley previously?

Cranfield
Fields round here have been disced and then rolled to break down the clods, as its so dry.

JDog
Fields are rolled to aid 'seed to soil contact'. That can be after harvest to encourage germination of spilled seeds to ensure they do not contaminate the next crop. It can also be after drilling for the same reason.
