Adge Cutler
My Lad is looking for a Truck.... it has to be a double cab ( no Vat ) as we cannot have commercial vehicles, motor homes, caravans in the small private road were we live. ( Each is covenanted to the neighbour and the original developer ) It also has to be in reasonably tidy condition. He has been looking at a few Rangers 100K plus miles around the 3 - 4 k mark but we haven't sourced one yet. The thing is I've also suggested he look at the equivalent year L200 but he's been put off them for some reason. I asked a close friend who is also a Ford dealer, but also very experienced in most makes of 4 x 4 which if he had to chose, would he go for and he said without hesitation the L200 for sheer reliability and longevity. He said that he's sold plenty of both second hand but rarely had a L200 come back in under warranty whereas with the Ranger its been around 15 - 20 % In fact he said the L200 well maintained is bullet proof. Can I ask the PW massive who have experience of either of these trucks what their opinion might be. Thanks. Adge.
billytheghillie
had a 55 plate l200 and loved it, traded in for hi-lux, bad mistake I hated the Toyota, agricultural feel about it, got rid of for another l200. only problem I had with my first l200 was the leaf springs, which I renewed and it seems to be a common problem with these trucks. I love the l200, get one you wont go wrong
team tractor
Vat or not it's still a commercial vehicle isn't it . It goes off if they are M1 or N1 when registered a lot of the time. Which also affects the speed limit . I think it's crazy that some aren't allowed vans on their own drive. We have some by us like that. My customer has a T5 and has to park at his mums The farmers round here rate the ford or isuzu . If your idea of a joy to own is shoving money into something with fuel Road tax services insurance etc.you must be absolutely ecstatic when paying your taxes on everything you earn and vat in everything you buy.. It starts every time. It's never got stuck. It does everything I need. Definition of a joy to own where a work vehicle is concerned in my opinion. Farcombehall
Both these vehicles are commercial whether you pay vat on them or not, my wife has the new Ranger its her second one and she loves it, I have a L200 barbarian which is my third one I use it all the time off road and been to Scotland in it twice, both vehicles have there bad points and good points but are very much the same overall, would highly recommend either of these compared to the other vehicles of similar specs. You will need to find one that has no VAT on the price there is a few out there but not many good luck
