Zapp
I take:  Boots or wellies depending on what its like underfoot and the amount of water likely to be in ditches.  A jumper, although I only wear it if it is really cold. Once you get moving around a shirt and coat will usually be warm enough.  A coat - I use a wax jacket because it is thornproof  Wax treggings  A hat - I use a waxed flat cap because it wont get hung up on brambles  Gloves  Dry socks in case I get a soaking  Lunch - hot in a food canteen if the weather is going to be cold, sandiwches/pork pie etc if not.  A flask of tea  Water

KFC
Waterproof leggings or treggings essential because, even if it hasn't rained, foliage holds lots of water, especially Rape, and wet equals cold. Also, dead Thistle thorns will give you a random tattoo through your trousers
kennett
As for what's expected, just keep an eye on everyone else, some shoots like plenty of noise, others just want stick tapping. Listen to the keeper, keep in line and make sure you have the dog on a lead when getting towards the flushing point unless you are 200% of his steadyness

I would keep the dog on the lead at the flushing point anyway ..
PhilR
Water for the dog and perhaps a little food as an energy boost for it too.
