washerboy
I shot yesterday in a strong wind and felt I missed more then I really should have, I did put it down the several things. A..new ground I haven't shot before B...it was windiest I have ever shot clays in C...I was using 21g x comp Would I have been better using a heavy load in such windy conditions? Guest stevo
I would say its B and A , in that order
EdSolomons
Load would make no odds- you just missed!
washerboy
I missed more then I care to admit, it was a case of judging how much lead , haven't shot at such fast flying clays before😀😀
Old farrier
What did those you hit break like? From my limited experience clay grounds set targets to Strech you not defeat you If you broke one on each / most stands you missed the rest All the best Of
washerboy
I broke most clays that we're heading towards me or over my head, it's crosses I didn't hit many. I used 21g x comp and was giving them nearly 3 foot lead
Old farrier
And those that you hit broke back edge And I bet in reality it was nearly 16 feet of lead unless they were going into the wind
washerboy
Wasn't an easy hour out but I really enjoyed the layout.
figgy
The shot pattern will be affected by strong wind as any projectile us. Most times you wouldn't notice due to the size and spread of the pattern but if you would have only just caught the clay in the fringe of the pattern then you can easily Miss with wind drift. Danger-Mouse
I broke most clays that we're heading towards me or over my head, it's crosses I didn't hit many. I used 21g x comp and was giving them nearly 3 foot lead If some of the ones you missed were at the end of the lake, the fast crossers that go across the open field, then you probably need to almost double that lead. They're a fair way out and really shifting. Others you may have actually overled. I was there on Wed and with the exception of the aforementioned targets there wasn't much that needed a metre lead. BrowningB525
Definitely A and B. However, I wouldn't rule out C. The wind would effect the clays, but not your carts (by a meaningful amount) at clay ranges. My scores drop off when I shoot Comp X. It is probably psychological for me, but happens every time. Probably a self fulfilling prophecy.
