iano
Hello, I'm very new to wildfowling. I've been out with mates before (never with a gun) and have watched them (and help them feed) on a pond. However, recently, I've started just walking the streams and ponds when I'm checking the land / fences / animals. Have bagged a few duck this way. But I really enjoy camping out near the pond / marsh, sitting in the ditch and spending some quality time just listening to the land, the birds and the animals. The only problem I've never actually seen a duck come in when I've been there. They do land there (but never when I'm there) and I've spooked a few up and bagged them that way, but I'd like to know if there is anything that I should be doing when waiting for them. Normally, I head out as dusk starts to fall, if there are a few mallard / teal on the water, they'll rise and I'll go for them and then head back to the farm. If there is nothing there, I'll lie up in the ditch and settle there until its too dark to make a shot. However, so far nothing has ever actually come in. Gear wise, I wear an ex British army MTP jacket, some green pants and boots. I don't wear gloves / face mask etc. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm not going to lie, when I'm out there, the gun is resting and I'm actually really enjoying it, but I'd also like to make sure that I'm doing everything properly! hatsanmad
Try feeding the areas your on about if you arent doing so already. Other then that you may need a couple of decoys. Also the weather can play a big part in it aswell
ShootingEgg
To add to hatsanmads comment, if you want them to flight in the evening, walk to the pond, push some off and the feed it after you have, they will.then come back later to feed, or thats the theory...
