Schmitty
HI All, I've put in for my FAC and stated that the ammo will go into the integral ammo safe in my gun safe. I'm starting to wonder if it will all fit or whether I will have to buy a seperate safe. Could someone do me a favour and measure the dimensions of a box of .22lr, a box of .17hmr and a box of .243 ammunition along with how many is in a box? Once I've got the numbers I'll calculate the overall space required. Obviously i'm assuming that the size of a box of ammo for a particular calibre is pretty standard across makes....is that correct? Thanks in advance
The Mighty Prawn
Don't have the dimension to hand but my integral safe only holds 300 r/f and 20, maybe 40 at a push c/f - they are really not very big at all considering average ammo allowance is 600 r/f and 250 each c/f
Schmitty
Thanks TMP, looks like I'll be buying another ammo safe then. Alternatively, If i bought another gun cabinet and kept the rifles in that, then all the ammo could go into the bottom of the shotgun cabinet with the shotguns and I'd still be keeping within the rules as the ammo is seperate to the rifles. team tractor
Mine will hold 600lr , 400 hmr , 200 cf easily plus bolts Mines a 7 gun buffalo river. I've just had another 5 gun with top box inside again and it's even bigger but none branded Edited January 9, 2017 by team tractor
oowee
I bought another gun safe. Cheaper and lots of space. Plenty secondhand.
Vince Green
I have had to resort to taking ammo out of the boxes and putting it in the safe in freezer pop top bags before now to get it all in. Then stacking the empty boxes on top. .22 ammo in particular takes up a lot of space in those plastic boxes Edited January 9, 2017 by Vince Green
