Vixen at 40 yards

Had a new batch of reloads to zero yesterday evening, that did not take long once I found an area without waist high grass and a good backstop - I found an area like a mini valley which allowed me to shoot well over the long grass and into the opposite bank - 100 yards 2 shots were bang on, great. :/

Decided to sit up for an hour - 8:30pm onwards and watch the wildlife.

After getting in position and taking my sticks for a steady shot above the cover I had to wait for the young cows curiosity to subside and drift away after checking me out. They soon moved into the next field and I was able to concentrate on watching for any customers :good:

After a while a fox appeared about 80 yards ahead of me and I was comfortable shooting off the sticks when it disappeared behind some nettles :P , so scanning with the bins on likely places it would emerge for the next few minutes resulted in it appearing 40 yards away to the left - no chance to move the sticks (noise and movement) - so I raised the gun freehand and felt steady so slipped the safety and trigger and bagged myself a vixen.

That's seven foxes shot from this position this year :good:
