A faint whiff of success.

Today I messed around with Doris' sister for a couple of hours. She is not as strong as Doris but she is more amenable.

I started to set up at 11:45 and was wet through by 12:00. The rain then stopped. There were a lot of pigeons about but no matter how I arranged the pattern they did not really want to commit to the decoys and skirted the pattern at between 45 m and 60 m. This was not the day to fiddle about with chokes and I made the mistake last night of fitting 1/4 choke into my semi auto. I could have done with more constriction.

Had a companion been available we could have trebled the bag as the pigeons were not only interested in the field I was in but another one three fields away and I saw countless birds head there after my shots. As it was I picked 25 which was good before heading back to the fire and the rugby.

And the title? You will see from my photo that I anchored my hide to some concrete posts and plastic coated netting. The fencing surrounded a sewage farm and the smell of excreta was all around me during my session.
