You'd have the 204 every time then. must check what sort of spec an price they go for here in N.I thanks lads think I have enough to get going on now! Seen a couple of bits on this the day about the 204 all the questions I was going to ask have been already Cheers men
Woodlander
If you can get the ammo, take a look at the .204,fast and pretty flat out to 300+ and really packs a punch.
njc110381
I've shot a lot of foxes with both the .223 and .243, and also a mate's .222. I have very little experience of the .22-250 but have just bought one, so if you're not in a hurry I can let you know what I think of that later. To be honest, although the .243 flattens them, the .223 is a very capable calibre. You don't need .243 really, it's a lot of gun for foxing. If all your mates use .223 then I'd stick with that. Inside 200 yards the .223 is all you'll ever need and it will do a lot further than that if you learn how it performs. Out to 200 it's point and shoot, and hit at the right end the fox will drop every time. It's easy to find ammo for and rifles are plentiful. You certainly won't be disappointed with it. I went for the .22-250 because I found a rifle I really like in that calibre (a stainless synthetic Sako 75). Had it been a .223 I still would have bought it. I sold my .243 because I hated it for deer and now have a 6.5x55. That is a little heavy for foxing on flat ground.

figgy
What about the .220 swift fast flat and will knock em over or if reloading 6mm br. There are lots of fox caliber s but there is a reason why 223 is so popular. It's cheap it works and you won't have trouble finding good ammo or bitsto reload. 22.250 is fast but also a barrel burner.
