ElvisThePelvis
I guess most of us are brought into the sport by friends or family am get taught the basics. Unfortunately I don't have this luxury, although books and this place are a big help. I've looked at NGO and BASC game meat handling courses and they are quite a distance away and time away too. Can anyone suggest an alternatives? I'm not looking to sell game or at this stage progress to Deer, but would appreciate learning the basics on small game. My butchery skills aren't great either.. Based in North Essex, ideally looking to discover how to thoroughly check game (although I'm pretty sure I want to be doubly so) and also maximise meat yield from carcass, sometimes book instructions aren't so clear.. Scully
The NGO are shortly running a couple; one in Northumberland and another in Cumbria. Drop them a line asking if they're doing any in your area. Courses include FSA certification enabling those who pass, the ability to deal with local suppliers. bakerboy
Go to the BASC Website and register an interest in your area. You could also give colinlad a PM he may be able to help.
