motty
I mentioned in a previous thread that Muncher (Jules) was to take me out on a drilled field today. He passed the field yesterday after collecting some cartridges. It turned out to be spring wheat that had attracted hundreds of pigeons and corvids. We arrived at our destination this morning with the sun shining brightly and a gentle breeze blowing. Crows circled the whole time we were setting up. We laid out a pattern to attract both the pigeons and the blacks, and we were confident of killing a few. The sky early on was devoid of pigeons, but the crows certainly kept us entertained. They just kept coming, and decoyed as well as I have ever known them to. I thought that they might be wary or get spooked - especially as I kept popping my head up to do some filming - but they didn't. The pigeons eventually made their appearance, and kept coming in dribs and drabs. On reflection, we probably missed out on getting a proper bag of pigeons, by being a day late. We kept taking on anything that came into range and had some very fine and highly enjoyable sport. Any doubters of steel shot cartridges capabilities would have been surprised at some of the long range kills we had. Thanks again, Jules, for a good day out - well worth the day off work! The final bag was 40 pigeons, 46 rooks, 18 crows and 14 jackdaws.

aga man
We had a similar experience on Monday with corvids decoying very confidently, even the Carrions. Seems they love the fresh seed and will do anything to get it! Good result, well shot
