mike555
Hi I was wandering if anyone has had any experience with cover drilled in August or early September and had good results. We have strict places we can have our cover this year, but once the wheat is off we can have them where ever we want over winter. There seems to be a couple of mixes on the bostons seeds website containing brassicas and fodder radish but I don't want them to be 3" off the ground in November and be flat in December. Any help would be greatly appreciated Mike
Konnie
Look at utopia from david bright seeds, drag the stubble, broadcast, drag it in , roll. give it a week and keep a look for flea beetle damage spray if needed. Once its all through a dose of nitram should be ok,
moongeese
I have an important strip to go in, but the field is sown with oilseed rape which will not get lifted to the middle of august. It will be seeded with gamecrop at once, and will be fine for cover for this season.
scolopax
Mustard is very good if not too thick. There is also a crop called Karbon, a very rapid growing bassica, like Utopia, but better, (or so the saleman told me), from Hurrels

scolopax
It needs to be better its more than twice the price!!! Yes but the recommended sowing rates are different, if you compare prices of an acre pack. Carbon £44, Utopia £75.
