minghis
As the title says really, picked up some CCI Mini Mag from the shop today and on closer inspection I've just realised thay are solid point 40grain rather than the 36grain hollow point I thought I was getting. They are for rabbits, should I take them back and try to change them or will they be OK to use?
steve_b_wales
They'll work on rabbits, especially head shots. You may find that the bullet will go clean through though, so, as always, a safe backstop is needed.
Vince Green
When I was young my uncle always used solids and so did a lot of others because there was endless amounts of ex MOD .22 ammo around. As long as you are sensible with the back stop I don't see a problem. There is no legal issue. Can I just ask though, why use minimags for rabbits? minghis
Can I just ask though, why use minimags for rabbits? I was looking for my usual Winchester Lazers but the Mini Mags were the only HV's they had in stock.
Daveo26
H/V kind of defeats the object of a .22lr for me. Unless I was shooting 100+yards bunnies all the time, but then I'd use my .17 But each to their own I suppose. Shot placement is more important than bullet type with a .22 You never know they might be more accurate
kody
I use to cut a cross on a solid bullet with a Stanley knife that worked like a hollow point
walshie
A lot of people shoot rabbits with airguns to good effect. Pellets are solid and have a lot less oomph than rimfire.
