ips
I have recently purchased a Beretta outlander and have noticed how very flat its shooting. Although I haven't had it on a pattern plate I know its very very flat. I haven't had a semi auto before, is this a known thing with semi's. Ps I can see some rib probably see the bead over a pound coin at the breech end.

It can't be very very flat ips 50/50 is flat so you can't be more flat than flat and no, I wouldn't say a semi is any more prone to shooting 50/50 than the more common OU, in fact I think plenty of the latter shoot flat or too low. ips
Fruity Yes I have I think the 60 on at the moment will change it for 50 . Hamster Yep you would think 50-50 but it doesn't feel like even that. Will have to get it on a pattern plate to be sure
Scully
Do you not like flat shooting guns? I prefer them as I regard any other sight picture as guess work, and just find it confusing, but possibly it may all depend on what one is used to? ips
Hi Scully Well as I am historically a trap shooter I am used to seing the target / bird on top of the bead. U used to shoot very high combes until getting a DT10eell in 2012 which was/is much flatter than I was used too but the wood is so very nice I could not bring myself to butcher it so I just got used to it and shot very well with it. So I was converted to prefering a flatter gun even for trap. My game ou is also flat but the SA is in a different league of flat as far as I can tell without a pattern plate. Scully
Fair enough; it wasn't a criticism; I just can't get to grips with seeing a lot of rib as I have no idea where I'm shooting. Each to their own.
ips
Wasn't taken as such Mr Scully 👍 Having read your very succinct post on other thread I think you may have got through to me what many others have tried and failed 😁 If my shooting now improves you will be my new hero 😉

a303
All the Beretta semis ive had, a303, al391 are generally flat shooting. A400 multitarget will shoot flat to silly high with adjustable rib. Only beretta semi if found shot high from the factory was the A400 Extreme 3 1/2 thingy cannon thing. Saw a huge amount of rib when mounted And that was probably solvable with a play with the shims. Scully
my outlander is 6 years old now,,and to be honest i never see the rib or bead or anything else other than the target.been shooting same way for more than 50 years. That's the way it should be. I don't think anyone is aware of the rib or bead when actually shooting, but the muzzles are there in peripheral vision whether we're aware of them or not. Anyone who looks at anything other than the target when actually shooting will invariably miss. But in trying out a gun for fit and practising mount, the bead and muzzles both play an important part in my opinion.
