My local gunshop has a knackered looking Savage 12g pump for £100.Newer mossbergs and escort are £300 + in another dealers but I really want to be loyal to my local guy so may ask him to source me one.Cant afford £300 so what can i expect to pay for a reasonable nick pump action please?

Have been looking thru old pw posts.Shooters seem to go off pump actions. The penny beginning to drop. For my money any Beretta would be in poor nick.Need to get new cabinet to house it you see.Only have breakdown cab.Does an feo need to see a new cab?Sorry to digress, just a thought....

I have a mossberg and it puts a smile on my face. It is also the sort of gun you don't worry about if it gets wet, dirty or bashed up.

If I was going to get another pump I would look for a Remmington, only because I had a go with one a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely - no idea what the model was but it looked "old fashioned" and had wood on it.

Mind you, I have heard alot about the old 303 Beretta and am now on the look out for one.

How are Hatsan Escort S/A users finding them?As I say need to change cab, family holidays, cars to service...in other words am skint.I do like the fit of the mossberg pumps tho so it may come down to what the dealer can get in for me.Anyway ,have a good weekend whatever you do.I usually work but am off this one.

You may find that a semi auto will fit into your existing cabinet when the barrel is removed. Storing it in 2 pieces is no big deal. How tall is your cabinet?

It takes about 10 seconds to remove the barrel from my Remington 11-87, so I suppose most other makes will take about the same amount of time.

Do a search on here for Hatsan threads. I think that you will find several people have had trouble with them.

My cabinet is 32 inch high .designed to take standard o/u or my folded Pedretti.I am embarressed to say I did not know they easilly dimantled. That would be ideal.Do pump actions do the same?

No.

(Well the old Savage I had years ago didn't).

Go for a decent make of semi auto. You won't be disappointed. :good:

Im a BIG fan of Mossbergs I must admit. The cycling problem, if you get one, is easily fixed (I had this for a bit and scratched my head for a long time, then when I discovered the answer it was fixed in ten minutes, and has never ever missed a cycle since!) and mine is shorter than my Benelli semi-auto.

They both have thier place, but ******* people off by beating them at skeet with a pump takes some beating :good:

Mine was £320 brand new, you can get one for £100, just try it first B)

Very rapid cycling not neccessary completely.most of my shooting done with s/b hushpower.I like the 3 shot of pump/semi and the way I seem to be able to easilly draw a bead on a stationary target at maybe 30 yards. It reminds me more of rifle (?).and they can take 3 inch carts.Do the Mossbergs barrel come of to fit in 32 inch cab?I know you dont aim a shotgun conventionally, but I feel like i could be really confident to point one at a fox or rabbit and drop it.Thanks for replies on such a hot day.Am off out to set a trap!!!!

It might come down to whats best for price. If I have to go too high then my AYA goes.If I can get a pump or s/a for peanuts then thats great.I have taken on board the pros and cons and have not handled any that i could not get on with.Would be happy to lose my o/u to get a good Beretta or something.Or to shell out for a cheaper pump wthout losing my gun.Depends what comes along. Thanks for all replies .

What anyone reckon of a Franchi semi auto m/c cammo for £225 in good nick? Thanks for any opinions.

I`ve got a Franchi s/a m/c but not in cammo. Really reliable. If its the older type with the franchok chokes these are difficult to get. I ended up ordering from the US. 225 sounds like a good price.

Just surrendered a 3 shot pump in good condition to the cops for chopping. I needed the space and couldnt even get any interest for 30 quid so it had to go.
